Mr. Rasak Alabi, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly battering his wife’s niece, Latifat Adeyemi, for using an air conditioner in their house in the Ikorodu area of the state.
The suspect was arrested around 1.30pm on Monday by policemen from the Ipakodo division, after a directive from the state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni.
Officials of the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender were said to have followed the policemen to effect the arrest of the suspect.
For the past 10 years, Adeyemi and her grandma had been living in a bungalow at the back of a house on Ile Eye Street, which was reportedly built by Alabi’s wife.
Alabi, who had separated from his wife for over 20 years, reportedly moved into the building in 2015 after reconciling with his wife, a nurse, who is based in the United States of America.
Adeyemi was said to have been accused of using too much electricity with the air conditioner in her room, which Alabi allegedly removed without her consent.
